[1:58]  1 tn Grk “And her.” Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

[1:58]  2 tn Grk “had magnified his mercy with her.”

[1:58]  3 tn The verb συνέχαιρον (sunecairon) is an imperfect and could be translated as an ingressive force, “they began to rejoice.”

[5:32]  4 sn I have not come is another commission statement by Jesus; see 4:43-44.

[5:32]  5 sn Though parallels exist to this saying (Matt 9:13; Mark 2:17), only Luke has this last phrase but sinners to repentance. Repentance is a frequent topic in Luke’s Gospel: 3:3, 8; 13:1-5; 15:7, 10; 16:30; 17:3-4; 24:47.

[9:6]  6 tn Here δέ (de) has been translated as “then” to indicate the implied sequence of events within the narrative.

[9:6]  7 tn This is a distributive use of κατά (kata); see L&N 83:12 where this verse is cited as an example of the usage.

[9:6]  8 tn Or “preaching the gospel.”

[9:6]  sn This verse is similar to Luke 9:2, except for good news at this point. The change means that to “preach the kingdom” is to “preach the good news.” The ideas are interchangeable as summaries for the disciples’ message. They are combined in Luke 8:1.

[22:21]  9 sn The one who betrays me. Jesus knows about Judas and what he has done.

[22:21]  10 sn The point of Jesus’ comment here is not to identify the specific individual per se, but to indicate that it is one who was close to him – somebody whom no one would suspect. His comment serves to heighten the treachery of Judas’ betrayal.
